Converting QuarkXPress documents to the JPEG format is necessary for emailing Quark files, or for sharing them online. Universal Document Converter can easily convert QuarkXPress files to JPEG enabling the users to take control over an extensive selection of parameters. Please follow this manual to start converting QuarkXpress documents

  1. Download and install Universal Document Converter software onto your computer.

  2. Open the document in QuarkXpress and press File->Print… in the application main menu.

  3. Select Universal Document Converter from the list of printers and press Properties…

  4. On the settings panel, click Load Properties.

  5. Use the Open dialog to select 'Text document to PDF.xml' and click Open.

  6. Select JPEG image on the File Format tab and click OK to close the Universal Document Converter Properties window.

  7. Press OK in the QuarkXpress Print dialog to start conversion. When the JPEG file is ready, it will be saved to the My DocumentsUDC Output Files folder by default.

  8. The converted document will then be opened by the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer software or another viewer associated with the JPEG files on your computer.

Quarkxpress Document Converter Not Working


What it is
QuarkXPress Document Converter is a free tool that opens legacy QuarkXPress files from version 3-6 and converts it into the QuarkXPress 9 format. These files can then be opened in QuarkXPress 10 and QuarkXPress 2015. The converter also allows to batch convert legacy files, which QuarkXPress 9 is not able to do.

How it works
  1. Install it (Mac OS X or Windows). It's supported on the same operating systems as QuarkXPress 10.5, so
    • Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)
    • Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)
    • Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
    • Windows 8.1
    • Windows 8
    • Windows 7
    (and will probably also run on OS X Lion, OS X Snow Leopard, OS X Leopard, Windows Vista and Windows XP, though they are not supported platforms)
  2. Start it. The spinning wheel indicates that it is loading.
  3. Once started, please either user the left button to choose the single file to be converted. Or use the right button to select a folder (to include subfolders please checkbox to do so), in which all legacy documents will be converted.
  4. Every file that QuarkXPress Document Converter can open, which should be .qxd files, will be opened and converted to the file format 9.1. The resulting file is written into the same directory as the original file and will get the same name plus a '_v9' suffix plus '.qxp'.
What it doesn't do
  • The QuarkXPress Document Converter is not a document repair tool.
  • The QuarkXPress Document Converter is basically a QuarkXPress 9.5.4.1 without user interface. Therefore it will open the same documents that QuarkXPress 9.5.4.1 would open and will save it the same way QuarkXPress 9.5.4.1 would save them.
  • Preferences are stored in your user folder in a folder called 'Quark/QuarkXPress Document Converter/'
